Hello and welcome. I’m Sarah, a freelance Illustrator and greeting card designer from the outskirts of London UK. I have been designing under my brand Silky Rose Design since 2019 and am best known for my top selling card designs on Thortful, Moonpig and more. I studied art to A Level, but after university my career took a different path into working in Television and then Archives until the beginning of  this year when I made the bold decision to leave my 18-year career at the BBC to embrace my passion for art and become a full-time illustrator. I am now running my creative business professionally full time.

 

My style can be described as fun, contemporary, and warm. I create most of my work digitally in Procreate. I love the freedom and convenience that comes with drawing digitally, but I strive to maintain a hand drawn quality to my art, through the use of textures, hand lettering and embracing all the minor imperfections that make it look created by a human. 

 

My specialities include greeting cards, portraits and hand lettering. I would love to expand into other areas including book cover design and editorial, as I love telling a story with my illustrations.
